The mother of Oghenemine Ogidi, a 28-year-old musician known as OG Millan, has alleged that she has now lost two sons in separate incidents linked to police brutality.
Her latest claim comes after the killing of her son by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Nuhu Usman, in Delta State.
Reports indicate that the officer has since been arrested by police authorities and transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
In a video circulating online, former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, and his team visited the grieving mother, who broke down in tears while recounting her painful experience.
She said the tragedy is not the first she has endured, insisting that Oghenemine was her second son to die under circumstances involving police officers.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she lamented. “They first took my son in 2022, and now they have taken another one from me again. How do I survive this?
Police authorities had earlier confirmed that the officer was taken into custody after the musician was shot during an operation by operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun.
According to the Command, the team had acted on intelligence about a suspect allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Although the Police maintained that the suspect, identified in their report as Mene Ogidi, was apprehended with a Beretta pistol and ammunition, a viral video circulating on social media has generated criticism and sparked debates about police brutality in Nigeria.
