The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress.
In a post published on X on Sunday, Morka called Obi a “political rolling stone” and accused him of switching parties in an attempt to secure a simple presidential ticket.
He further claimed that Obi favours a route to power that avoids internal party rivalry.
“He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC,” Morka added.
In closing, the APC spokesperson referred to the former governor of Anambra State as a “political drifter.”
Obi had already declared his intention to leave the African Democratic Congress, citing the party’s internal problems and what he called a poisonous political atmosphere.
Obi said in a statement released on Sunday that his decision was the result of careful consideration and persistent difficulties, including as internal conflicts and divisions that have diverted the party from dealing with national issues.
He insisted that he still respects party leaders like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President David Mark, and that his departure was not the result of personal conflicts with them.
Additionally, Obi reaffirmed that he is not anxious for political office, emphasising that enhancing Nigerians’ well-being and creating a more cohesive society continue to be his top priorities.
He insisted that a better Nigeria is still possible despite leaving, reiterating his faith in the potential for capable and caring leadership in the nation.
