A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chille Igbawua, has dismissed claims that the party is being positioned as a political platform for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Igbawua made this known on Monday during a live appearance on Channels Television’s programme, The Morning Brief, while reacting to the recent political realignments involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Reports indicate that both Obi and Kwankwaso officially joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday.
Responding to the development, Igbawua stressed that the ADC remains committed to a transparent and inclusive process in determining its candidates, insisting that no individual has been given preferential treatment.

“I am sufficiently an insider to know if any decisions have been made regarding who will emerge. What I can assure is that it will be through a transparent and open process,” he said.
He further reiterated that allegations suggesting the party is a special-purpose vehicle for Atiku are unfounded, maintaining that all members are being treated equally.
