Afrobeats singer Joeboy has raised concern over how ego is affecting collaborations in the Nigerian music industry.
In a recent interview on Cool FM Lagos, he explained that many artists now approach features with a competitive mindset instead of focusing on creativity and synergy. According to him, this often leads to tension, with some artists trying to outshine each other rather than working together smoothly.
Joeboy added that he prefers collaborating with people he already has a good relationship with, saying it helps eliminate ego clashes and unnecessary rivalry.
He also noted that when he features an artist, his goal is to allow them shine freely rather than compete.

On his part, Wizard Chan also criticized ego-driven collaborations, stating that artists should be allowed to express themselves without interference. He emphasized that features are meant to bring different creative styles together, not turn songs into competitions.
Both artists agreed that collaboration should be about creativity, not ego battles.
