Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement in the Northwest, Abdullahi Yakasai, has maintained that President Tinubu still enjoys strong support from the North ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, Yakasai dismissed claims suggesting Tinubu has lost the backing of the Northwest, describing such reports as politically driven narratives from opposition parties.

According to him, “For anyone to say the President no longer has support in the Northwest, those are simply negative political statements. Honestly, considering what Mr. President has done, the North should be appreciative.”
Addressing concerns over the rising cost of living and economic hardship, Yakasai stated that Tinubu has introduced measures aimed at improving governance and promoting grassroots development.
Yakasai also stressed that the welfare of citizens is not solely the responsibility of the federal government, noting that state and local governments also play major roles.
