2027: Seyi Makinde Announces Presidential Bid Under APM

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has formally declared his intention to run for the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.

The governor revealed this on Thursday at the joint mega-rally of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement(APM) held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said, “The time to reset Nigeria is now. Therefore, today, I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, announce my candidacy for the position of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

According to Makinde, the state of the nation has “continued to deteriorate, putting the majority of Nigerians on survival mode daily.”

The governor went on to say that public servants in charge of the wellbeing of the populace have neglected their responsibilities.

He further said that the PDP will be able to field candidates for all positions in the 2027 general election through its partnership with the APM.

Meanwhile, as part of the alliance for the coming polls, Makinde had already secured the support of the Tanimu Turaki faction of the PDP in Oyo State to sign a memorandum of understanding with the APM.

Governor Makinde and the APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, signed the agreement on behalf of both sides.

“So today in Ibadan, the first grand alliance is formed. The alliance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Recall that previous reports revealed that Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, may formally announce his presidential bid on Thursday.

The organisers are using the “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026” to announce a political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement in the state, while also formally launching Makinde’s anticipated 2027 presidential campaign.
