Borno tragedy: Zulum vows swift rescue and safe return of 48 abducted schoolchildren amid growing tension

Babagana Zulum has assured residents of Mussa community in Askira Uba Local Government Area that efforts are being intensified to secure the release of the 48 schoolchildren abducted by gunmen.

The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday during a condolence visit to Uba town following the attack.

While addressing community members, Zulum sympathised with the Emir of Uba, parents of the kidnapped children and residents affected by the incident.

He stated that the Federal Government, security agencies and the Borno State Government were collaborating to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

Zulum also revealed that additional security personnel, including military and police operatives, had been deployed to the area to strengthen security and aid ongoing rescue operations.

Zulum further pledged to boost security presence in Askira, Uba and neighbouring communities to prevent similar attacks in the future.

Appealing directly to the abductors, the governor urged them to free the children, stressing that they are innocent minors who deserve care, protection and the support of their families.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir of Uba, Ali Ibn Isma’ila Mamza II, disclosed that the abduction took place on Friday, May 15, in Mussa community.
