Peter Obi has condemned the brutal killing of a teacher and the murder of an elderly woman, describing the incidents as deeply disturbing and heartbreaking.
In a post shared on his X account, Peter Obi said the events were so shocking that words could hardly capture the emotional weight of the tragedy.
He noted that the killing of a teacher and the reported rape and murder of an elderly woman reflect a troubling moral and social decline in society.
Peter Obi questioned how the country had reached a point where educators are targeted and killed, and where elderly citizens—who represent wisdom and memory—are subjected to such violent acts.

According to him, the situation goes beyond insecurity, describing it as a collapse of collective humanity, worsened by growing public indifference to repeated tragedies. Peter Obi added that society has become desensitised, quickly moving on after each incident instead of demanding meaningful change.
Expressing sympathy to the affected families, Peter Obi said sorrow alone is not enough and called for accountability and urgent systemic reforms.
He warned that failing to act decisively against such atrocities risks eroding shared humanity.
