Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his political history.
He said the President’s perceived distrust is partly because he previously supported former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest made the remarks during a recent conversation with Peller, stating that his past political involvement continues to influence how he is viewed in certain circles.
He also recalled that he had once picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives nomination form to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, but did not secure the party’s ticket.
Although Cubana Chief Priest initially indicated interest in the race, he later told his followers that he had not truly contested.

The nightlife promoter, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, also expressed support for Tinubu, saying he does not want to experience another electoral defeat like the one he associates with backing Peter Obi in 2023.
He further argued that Peter Obi has no realistic chance of defeating Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
His comments have continued to generate reactions online, especially given his past political alignments and shifting support within Nigeria’s political landscape.
