Sanusi Bature, spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, has alleged that New Democratic Party, NDP, vice-presidential hopeful Rabiu Kwankwaso is secretly working to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Bature claimed Kwankwaso has become politically confused due to his recent alliances and moves across different political camps.

According to him, Kwankwaso, who once opposed the idea of a Yoruba presidency, has recently held meetings with prominent South-West political figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, in search of political support.

Bature also alleged that after discussions with Makinde failed, Kwankwaso turned to Peter Obi despite previously dismissing the former Labour Party presidential candidate as politically inferior and unfit for partnership during the 2023 elections.

He further claimed that Kwankwaso had initially considered aligning with the APC and allegedly directed Governor Abba Yusuf to meet with President Tinubu over possible political cooperation and defection plans before later changing direction.

Bature maintained that although some politicians openly support Tinubu, others allegedly do so quietly behind the scenes. He insisted that Kwankwaso’s current political actions would ultimately benefit Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The APC chieftain also claimed Kwankwaso played a role that favored Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and believes the same pattern may repeat itself in 2027.
