Arise News anchor, Oseni Rufai, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to reconsider any plan to contest in the 2027 presidential election.
Oseni Rufai gave the advice on Wednesday during Arise Television’s Morning Show, arguing that some of those currently encouraging Jonathan to return to the race were the same individuals who opposed and discredited him during the build-up to the 2015 election.
According to reports, the Taminu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (Peoples Democratic Party) recently granted Jonathan a waiver ahead of its presidential primary.
Speaking on the programme, Oseni Rufai said he had received messages suggesting growing political pressure for Jonathan to join the race, but warned him to be cautious.
He added that those pushing the former president into the contest were the same people who worked against him in 2015, and urged him not to be swayed, saying they could mislead him if he returns to the race.
