The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is attempting to dominate multiple political platforms by influencing presidential candidacies across major opposition parties, including the APC, PDP, Labour Party, and SDP.

Adebayo made the claim in a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Alabi Alayande.

According to him, President Tinubu’s alleged interference in opposition party affairs, despite already securing the APC presidential ticket, poses a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic process.

Adebayo urged Nigerians to resist what he described as anti-democratic tendencies through the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Adebayo also criticised what he called the excessive pursuit of power among Nigerian politicians, arguing that it contrasts sharply with the widespread poverty and hardship experienced by citizens.

President Tinubu signs N68.32 trillion 2026 budget to accelerate national development.

In his words, he accused President Tinubu of seeking influence beyond the APC, claiming: “Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not satisfied to be the presidential candidate of the APC. He wants to be the candidate of the APC, PDP, Labour Party, and SDP.”

He further warned against what he described as a “greed for the soul of the country,” stressing that such a trend must be resisted. He added that the SDP would contest the 2027 presidential election with him as its flag bearer.

Recall that Adebayo emerged as the SDP presidential candidate during the party’s national convention and primaries held on May 9 in Bauchi State.
