Tinubu’s Re-election: APC North-West Begins Seven-State Tour

The All Progressives Congress North-West Zone has announced intentions to embark on a mobilisation tour of the region’s seven states in an effort to solidify support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was made at a meeting of the party’s zonal leadership convened at its headquarters in Kaduna. Members assessed the political situation in the North-West and determined to strengthen grassroots mobilisation to ensure the APC’s domination in the region.

APC North-West Zonal Secretary Isah Achida presided over the meeting in the absence of National Vice Chairman (North-West) Garba Datti, who reportedly missed the session due to important business.

The statement further noted that the North-West remains a key political stronghold for the ruling All Progressives Congress, having delivered one of President Bola Tinubu’s highest vote totals in the 2023 presidential election.

The party also expressed confidence that it would surpass that performance in the 2027 election through early mobilisation and sustained engagement with party stakeholders across the zone.

“As part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, the zonal leadership resolved to embark on a tour of the seven North-West states to engage party leaders, critical stakeholders and members on practical measures to strengthen the party’s structures and secure an overwhelming victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC,” the statement read.

The APC further described the North-West’s current political arrangement as unprecedented, pointing out that the party currently governs all seven states in the geopolitical zone.

Backstory…

The mobilisation comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) moving to consolidate support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Tinubu’s administration has implemented a series of economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange policy changes, which have drawn both praise and criticism. Against this backdrop, the APC has increasingly focused on strengthening its grassroots structures and rallying support across key geopolitical zones.
