Police officers have sealed off roads leading to the venue of a special PDP convention organised by a faction of the party to ratify former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, officers stationed at the barricade told reporters that the event had been cancelled. Shortly afterward, party officials disclosed that they had moved the special convention to another location in Area 10.
ROW OVER EVENT CENTRE USAGE
Recall that PDP is currently divided into two factions, with the camp backed by FCT minister Nyesom Wike recognised by the electoral umpire.

The Kabiru Turaki-led faction had earlier scheduled its convention for Saturday at the A-Class Park and Event Centre in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had subsequently issued a directive mandating owners of hotels, event centres and other public facilities to deal only with the leadership of political parties recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The FCTA also warned that any property used by “illegal organisations” risks losing its title documents.
However, the Turaki-led PDP faction maintained that it would proceed with the special convention at the venue.
