Some Nigerian musicians have called on Tinubu for urgent action and the rescue of pupils, students, and teachers abducted by gunmen from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School (Esiele) in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on May 15, 2026.

It was reported that 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped during the attack, while two teachers were killed, sparking widespread public outrage across the country.

Reacting to the incident, singer Victony urged President Bola Tinubu to address the worsening insecurity in the country and ensure the safe return of all kidnapped victims, especially children. On his X (formerly Twitter) page, he wrote: “Save our children & put an end to this mess @officialABAT.”

Similarly, Davido expressed deep sadness over the attack and the continued suffering of the victims in captivity. Reacting via his Snapchat account, he wrote: “I’m weak. God please take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and families. This is messed up.”

Also, Timaya issued a statement calling on the Federal Government to act urgently in tackling the rising insecurity across the country. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration and decisive intervention to address the growing security challenges affecting many communities.

According to him, there is an urgent need for increased efforts and coordinated action to curb the wave of kidnappings and violence in the country.
