2027: ADC stakeholders urge Malami to choose running mate from Kebbi South

A pressure group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has urged the party’s governorship candidate, Abubakar Malami, to pick a running mate from the Kebbi South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group, known as the Kebbi ADC Unity Forum, specifically endorsed Paul Gambo Tase for the deputy governorship position, saying the move would ensure fairness, inclusiveness and regional balance within the party.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the forum’s coordinator, Garba Abdulkareem, described Tase as a capable and experienced politician fit for the role.

According to Abdulkareem, the forum believes the deputy governorship ticket should be zoned to Kebbi South since Malami is from the Kebbi Central Senatorial District. He noted that the recommendation was driven by considerations of equity, competence and political inclusion as preparations for the 2027 election continue.

The forum said it is made up of party members, professionals, youths, women and community leaders committed to strengthening the ADC’s chances in Kebbi State.

It also stated that Tase, a former Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, has expressed readiness to serve if chosen by the party and its governorship candidate.

Tase is a retired economist and former staff member of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Malami, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, recently emerged as the ADC governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Kebbi State.
