A Senatorial aspirant for Edo South under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Ehiozuwa Agbonayinwa, has identified what he described as the major problem within the party.
Agbonayinwa has consistently spoken out over what he claims is his exclusion from receiving the party’s senatorial ticket, which he insisted he won during the NDC primary election held on May 29.
The former member of the House of Representatives is among several aggrieved party members dissatisfied with the way the party leadership has handled the candidate selection process.
It was gathered that the NDC is yet to officially announce the results of its primary elections for the Senate, House of Representatives, governorship, and state assembly positions.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise News on Friday, Agbonayinwa alleged that the biggest challenge facing the NDC is that the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is allegedly imposing his decisions on members.
“I think what is wrong is that one man cannot dictate for the whole NDC. You have the national leader, the national chairman, a senator of repute, a wonderful guy, a great guy. I respect him.

“You have the secretary, Barrister Ikenna, wonderful people. You have the national publicity secretary, they are great men. At the same time, we have the National Organising Secretary and other wonderful people working day and night, but one man cannot decide the future of members of the NDC.
“For me, I cannot be going to the leader’s house every day waiting from morning till night. This is not democracy. It is undemocratic.
“Democracy is for the people and by the people. The people should be allowed to decide their own fate. I won the senatorial seat, there’s no doubt about it.
“What stopped them from announcing the result? The primary was held on May 29, and this is already June 5. What are they hiding?
“He said they are trying to feature one lady and that she would be given affirmation because they want a woman among the senators.
“You don’t do that. We all went for the primaries, and those who won should be given the opportunity. Since I won, I should be given the chance,” he said.
