Bandits release video of abducted ex-general begging for rescue (video)

In a chilling development on Saturday, the bandits who abducted retired Major General Rabe Abubakar—the former Director of Defence Information—and his wife released a video showing the couple in captivity.

Recall, a criminal gang initially ambushed and abducted the couple along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road near Zakin Baure village, located in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to an investigative report by Daily Trust, the retired general’s wife directly communicates the kidnappers’ ultimatums in a tense, four-minute video that has quickly gone viral across social media.

The criminals have conditioned the couple’s release on two primary demands. First, they are demanding the immediate freedom of three detained gang members identified as Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru. Second, the captors insist on the full restoration of livestock that authorities reportedly confiscated from them.

According to her account, security operatives arrested two of the suspects in Jikamshi and apprehended the third in Kano.

She also appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to help meet the demands aimed at securing their release.

Meanwhile, the retired general, who spoke briefly in the video, called for efforts to promote peace, adding that the abductors had indicated a willingness to engage in dialogue and pursue peaceful coexistence.
