Tobi Amusan breaks another record with dominant win in Taiwan

Tobi Amusan, the Nigerian sprinter, won the women’s 100m hurdles gold at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan on Saturday.

Amusan finished first in 12.72 seconds, ahead of Taiwan’s Bo Ya Zhang, who placed second in 13.17 seconds, while Yi Po-an came third in 13.37 seconds.

In addition, the 29-year-old set a new meeting record with her winning time of 12.72 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 12.80 seconds set by former world champion and Olympic silver medallist Nia Ali by 0.08 seconds.

Earlier, Amusan dominated the field in Heat 2 of the qualifying rounds and carried that momentum into the final.

Subsequently, she delivered a commanding performance in the final race, delighting spectators with her display.

Blasting past her competition, Tobi Amusan completely overtook her rival, Zhang, immediately after clearing the fourth hurdle. To the absolute astonishment of roaring fans, the dominant hurdler crossed the finish line before her final competitor could even clear the last obstacle.

With this, Tobi Amusan shattered her own meeting record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League. Furthermore, this spectacular victory marks her first Diamond League win of the current athletic season, keeping her momentum burning bright.
