Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.
According to Mbah, the planned maintenance will allow TCN’s maintenance team to do preventative maintenance on the substation’s 100 Mega Volt Ampree (MVA) 132/33kV Power Transformer (TR1), its auxiliaries, and related switchgear.
”Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, will be unable to off-take bulk power for distribution to customers in parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp,
”Others are Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo, and their environs during the maintenance period,” she said.
According to her, the company regrets any inconvenience the planned outage may cause electricity customers in the affected areas.
She went on to say that in order to guarantee the equipment’s continuous optimal operation, maintenance is crucial.

NERC Announces Compensation for Band A Electricity Customers
In June, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a special compensation for eligible Band A electricity customers affected by poor electricity supply arising from generation constraints on the national grid between February and March 2026.
In a public notice posted on its social media accounts on Thursday, the commission explained that it implemented the directive to address severe generation shortages throughout the Nigerian electricity supply industry. These shortages had hindered electricity distribution companies from providing the minimum service levels they promised to certain Band A customers in the first quarter of the year.
To resolve the issue, NERC issued Directive No. NERC/2026/002, which mandates special compensation for Band A customers affected by grid generation constraints.
