Siminalayi Fubara on Sunday received Kashim Shettima in Port Harcourt ahead of the 163rd Nigeria Army Day Celebration.
Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu at the event, with the grand finale scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2026.
The annual celebration marks the founding of the Nigerian Army and pays tribute to the dedication, bravery, and sacrifices of its officers and soldiers in defending the nation’s territorial integrity and supporting internal security operations.

Activities lined up for the celebration include military parades, equipment exhibitions, award presentations, and other programmes showcasing the Army’s operational accomplishments and contributions to national development.
The Nigerian Army Day Celebration is an annual event held to commemorate the establishment of the Nigerian Army and recognise the contributions of military personnel to national security. The celebration brings together top government officials, military commanders, diplomats, and other stakeholders to honour the sacrifices of officers and soldiers involved in defending the country’s territorial integrity and combating security threats. This year’s 163rd edition is being hosted in Rivers State, with a series of activities designed to showcase the Army’s achievements, strengthen civil-military relations, and highlight its role in maintaining peace and supporting national development.
