The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has assured party members that grievances arising from the recently concluded governorship primary will soon be resolved.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, gave the assurance on Monday while addressing journalists during a media briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ibadan.
The briefing was attended by the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Adesoji Adedeji, Oyo APC Chairman Chief Moses Adeyemo, and other party stakeholders.
The APC primary attracted 11 aspirants, with reports indicating that some contestants expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the exercise.
Responding to the concerns, Alli said the party had already constituted a reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved aspirants and members with a view to restoring unity.
He noted that every aspirant who contested the primary was qualified to lead the state but stressed that the party could only produce one candidate.
The senator also disclosed that he had begun holding meetings with dissatisfied party members and aspirants to foster unity ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
“It is not unusual to have aggrieved aspirants in a strong political party like the APC, especially one that had many competent individuals vying for its ticket,” he said.
“When 11 people contest for one position, only one person can emerge. Every one of us was qualified, but the party had to make a choice. The APC has officially uploaded my details as its governorship candidate.
“I want to assure everyone that the issues arising from the governorship primary will soon be resolved. I have been meeting with stakeholders, and I even met one of the G6 members today,” Alli added.
