A barber identified only as Emeka has been arrested by operatives of the Abia State Police Command after officers reportedly discovered a clay pot containing human hair and suspected fetish items in his one-room apartment in Umuahia.
According to reports, the suspect, who was well known in Umuahia for his barbering skills, was taken into custody on Tuesday after his neighbour, Mr. Johnson Ikenga, allegedly filed a complaint accusing him of making threats.
Police were said to have searched the barber’s residence during the arrest, leading to the recovery of the clay pot filled with human hair and other objects believed to be linked to traditional practices.
During questioning, Emeka reportedly admitted ownership of the pot but was unable to provide a clear explanation for the purpose of the items or how he obtained the human hair.
The discovery has sparked concern among residents, with some speculating that the hair may have been collected from customers who visited the barber’s shop. However, there is no official confirmation to support those claims.
The Abia State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Meanwhile, the suspect has been taken to the Central Police Station in Umuahia, where investigations are ongoing.
