Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has alleged that his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has initiated a fresh legal action seeking to stop him from performing songs released under the Psquare brand.
Peter made the claim in a video posted on his official social media page while responding to earlier remarks by Jude concerning the ownership of Psquare and the ongoing dispute over the group’s business affairs.
According to the singer, the latest suit is separate from the ongoing legal matter involving Northside Music and government authorities, stressing that he is only appearing as a witness in that case.
Speaking on the development, Peter said the new court action was aimed at restricting his ability to perform Psquare songs.
“Jude served me a letter. We just had the hearing recently. During the hearing, the first thing they wanted to do was stop me from performing Psquare songs,” he said.
The Peter Okoye Psquare songs dispute, according to the singer, also involved an attempt by Jude, with the backing of his twin brother Paul Okoye, to obtain a court order preventing him from performing the group’s music.
Peter also dismissed Jude’s claim that he brought Psquare to Lagos in 2005, insisting that the group had already established itself before then.
“In Jude’s claim, you said you brought Psquare to Lagos in 2005, so automatically that makes you the owner of Psquare. Psquare’s first album came out in 2003. We’ve been singing for four to five years before that and even signed our first management contract. Where were you then?” he said.
The singer further claimed that Jude was still in school at the time and argued that the account being presented in court was inaccurate.
“You said you brought us to Lagos. Jude, we brought you to Lagos. I sold my car and paid for our first house. I still have the receipts. You and Paul ran away when there was nothing. I stayed back. Now, all of a sudden, you own Psquare,” Peter added.

Jude Okoye has yet to publicly respond to Peter’s latest allegations regarding the fresh legal action.
