Nollywood actor Mofe Duncan shared the news on social media, expressing deep sorrow as he paid tribute to the late director.
While the cause of death remains undisclosed, the news has sparked an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, actors, and fans, who have taken to social media to honor Atiya’s lasting impact on Nollywood.
Renowned for his work behind the camera, Dimbo Atiya directed and produced several acclaimed projects, shaping many acting careers and driving the growth of the Nigerian movie industry.
Tributes have continued to flood in from members of the entertainment business, who praised him as a gifted filmmaker, mentor, and creative force whose legacy will live on via his work.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be disclosed by the family.
Who Is Dimbo Atiya?
Dimbo Atiya is an award-winning Nigerian filmmaker, creator, writer, producer, director, and showrunner with over a decade of experience in film and television. He began his career in urban and regional planning before transitioning to filmmaking in 2008, where he studied professionally at the New York Film Academy in both New York City and California.
He has produced over 500 television episodes and five feature films, providing employment for hundreds of actors and crew members. Dimbo gained widespread recognition as the co-creator, executive producer, writer, and director of The Rishantes, which won the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Africa Magic Original Series and aired on Africa Magic and Showmax.

Her passing left colleagues, fans, and loved ones devastated.
Meanwhile, both Osoba and Atiya’s passing comes only few weeks after renowned actor, Alexx Ekubo also passed on amid his battle with cancer.
