Backstory…
Adeleke went into the August 15 governorship election seeking a second term after winning the 2022 election under the Peoples Democratic Party.
His strongest challenge came from the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, a former Osun Commissioner for Finance who later headed the National Inland Waterways Authority.
For the APC, the election represented an opportunity to reclaim Osun after losing the state to Adeleke in 2022 and to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general election.
