President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending four weeks on a working holiday in Europe.
Channels Television reports that the Nigerian Air Force One carrying the President arrived in Lagos from Paris, France, at about 6:22 p.m. The aircraft then taxied to the presidential wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President chose to travel to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, whom he described as a martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
On Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 presidential election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and security chiefs were among the top government officials who received the President.

Recall that Tinubu left Nigeria for London on August 30 before travelling to Paris, where he had dinner and held other meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron.
President Tinubu then postponed his return to Nigeria due to a last-minute adjustment to his travel schedule, administrative sources told TheCable.
The delay came after the presidency earlier announced a change in his schedule .
Meanwhile, the president’s return to the country comes after Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), claimed that President Bola Tinubu is hospitalised in France.
Sowore made the claim during an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, on Monday.
Drawing comparisons with the administrations of former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Yar’Adua, Sowore alleged that some of Tinubu’s public appearances were staged to conceal a serious medical condition.
