Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike faces intense criticism following revelations that he approved the allocation of hundreds of hectares of lands around the University of Abuja to eight companies, including a massive 113.19-hectare parcel to a single firm.
Meanwhile, ordinary Nigerians seeking modest residential plots of 250 to 500 square meters reportedly encounter severe difficulties securing land allocations.
Records obtained by SaharaReporters show that the allocations, issued as offers of statutory rights of occupancy, cover ten separate plots totaling approximately 291.01 hectares in Cadastral Zone E01, Giri, Abuja.
Documents authorized by the FCT Minister reveal a beneficiary list spanning oil and gas companies, real estate developers, commercial entities, an educational foundation, and other private organisations.
Among the corporate beneficiaries, GI Properties Limited emerged as the biggest winner, securing an allocation of approximately 113.19 hectares.
Sources familiar with the allocations informed SaharaReporters that the transactions raise major concerns over the administration of public land in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding allegations that authorities are parceling out University of Abuja land to private entities.
The source labeled the trend highly alarming, contrasting the massive corporate grants against the steep hurdles everyday citizens face when applying for modest residential plots.
While the documentation names eight beneficiary companies, two entities—Unicorn Oil and Gas Limited and Alphaseal Business Limited—each captured two separate land allocations.
List of companies that received the allocation
According to official documents, GI Properties Limited, situated at 1 Amazon River Close, off Amazon Street, Maitama, Abuja, secured a statutory right of occupancy for Plot 363, a roughly 113.19-hectare parcel in Cadastral Zone E01, Giri.

The offer subjects the company to an annual rent of N15 per square meter alongside a surcharge of N500 per square meter.
Designated for “Mixed Use (Comprehensive Development),” the grant carries a 99-year lease term with a five-year rent review clause.

Also located in Cadastral Zone E01, Giri, this plot spans approximately 20 hectares.

The offer, issued under file number MISC 165976, carries an official date of April 30, 2026.

Meanwhile, Alphaseal Business Limited, located at Plot 2, Works Layout, Owerri, Imo State, secured two distinct commercial plot allocations.
Salmond Wave Limited, located at 5A Sokoto Road, Nasarawa GRA, Kano State, secured a total of 73.22 hectares.

Finally, official documents name Total Geospatial Integrated Services Limited, based at 86B Karu, opposite CBN, AMAC, Abuja, as the tenth beneficiary. Authorities offered the company a statutory right of occupancy over Plot 283, a roughly 2.58-hectare parcel in Cadastral Zone E01, Giri.
Wike Gives Beneficiaries 21 Days To Complete Payments
Additionally, the contracts include strict clauses requiring beneficiaries to pay all specified rent, fees, bills, and charges within 21 days of their individual offer dates.
Failure to meet payment terms or submit the required acceptance documents within the 21-day window results in the automatic expiration of the offers.
Furthermore, the right of occupancy takes effect only after the Lands Department receives proof of full payment alongside a properly executed acceptance letter.
Finally, the offers mandate that recipients complete development on their allocated properties within two years from the commencement date of the right of occupancy.
Backstory…
Meanwhile, this comes as Wike’s son, Jordan , has been reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged failed land transaction valued at $2.1 million.
Also recall that in July of 2025, the minister disclosed that his administration had put a stop to land grabbing by the nearby University of Abuja, alleging that the institution has claimed 11,000 hectares of land, of which he had retrieved 7,000.
