Wike’s Son Dragged To EFCC Over Alleged $2.1m Land Deal

FCT Minister Wike’s Son, Jordan Faces EFCC Petition Over Alleged $2.1m Land Deal

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike’s son, Jordan , has been reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged failed land transaction valued at $2.1 million.

The complaint stems from a dispute between Jordan and two claimants—GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited alongside Safwan Garba GY—who are seeking to recover funds paid for a proposed real estate development project in Abuja’s Katampe and Guzape districts.

Meanwhile, Justice Silvanus Oriji of the FCT High Court has adjourned the civil suit, marked CV/008/2026, to December 1 for continuation of hearing.

Ibrahim Waru, counsel for the claimants, informed journalists at the court on Monday that while the EFCC had received their petition, the anti-graft agency had yet to act on it.

Waru explained that whereas the civil lawsuit seeks to recover the contested funds, the petition calls for an investigation into potential criminal elements surrounding the deal.

According to the petition, the dispute originated after the claimants’ representative met Jordan in London.

The document further alleges that Jordan frequently managed comparable land deals with his father’s knowledge and approval, and upon returning to Nigeria, offered to facilitate the acquisition of land in the Federal Capital Territory.

The petition further alleged that to substantiate his claims, Wike’s son placed a phone call to his father while in the presence of the claimant.

The legal filings state that out of the funds involved, $2 million was purportedly given to his father to facilitate the land allocations, while an additional $100,000 was collected by Jordan as his personal facilitation fee.

Furthermore, the claimants asserted that the cash disbursements were witnessed by two individuals, Adamu Sani and Aliyu Sarki.

Backstory…

The dispute dates back to a proposed real estate joint venture between businessman Safwan Garba, his company GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, and Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to court documents cited in media reports, Garba said he first met Jordan in London in 2023 and that they later discussed developing residential properties for sale in Abuja.
