Iran Conflict: Trump Fires Top Military Planner

Iran Conflict: US Has One or Two Targets Left- Trump

Amid Iran’s conflict with the US, US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that while American forces have largely destroyed Iran’s military and nuclear program, the United States still needs to “take care of” one or two remaining targets.

The United States and Israel entered a conflict with Iran in February, but Trump characterized Tehran as unreliable despite ongoing discussions to end the war.

The Republican president added that Washington faces no immediate urgency to launch a new offensive given the extensive damage already inflicted on Iranian capabilities.

“We’ve knocked out their nuclear. We still have to take care of, I would say one or two sites, but we can do that in 10 minutes,” Trump told reporters at his Florida residence.

“You probably could look at Pickaxe Mountain, and you have to take care of that. We can do that all very quickly,” he added.

However, The Iranian government denied conducting nuclear research at the facility.

Earlier Saturday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington remains open to a diplomatic resolution, noting that Trump has not yet decided whether to order new strikes against Iran.

Iran’s supreme leader warned Israel and the United States against initiating a fresh military offensive, amid fears that both nations might resume strikes following their key elections.

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited a “historic, one-time opportunity” to bring down the Iranian government, Trump previously warned that an attack would follow this week’s US midterm elections.

Backstory…

The latest tensions follow weeks of stalled negotiations to end the US-Israeli war with Iran, which began in February 2026.

Qatar and Pakistan have been mediating, but efforts have repeatedly hit disagreements over sanctions, Iran’s nuclear programme and the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

On October 28, Tehran discussed a seven-day peace plan involving the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but Washington rejected its conditions. Qatari mediators have since returned to the negotiations, while Iran has warned of retaliation if fresh strikes occur.

With US midterm elections approaching, Trump has threatened renewed military action, keeping fears of escalation alive.
