Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has pushed back against Peter Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, following their criticism of his recent remarks.
In an interview with Symfoni TV, Datti stated that Obidients routinely attack him whenever he speaks openly about their leader, Obi.
He warned that if the attacks continue, he will reveal more damaging details regarding Peter Obi and the 2023 presidential election.
“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi,” Datti said.
Reaffirming his commitment as a Labour Party member, Datti declared that supporters who lack full insight into the 2023 election events cannot silence him.
His statements follow his recent public criticism of Obi’s decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
His remarks however angered Obidients, who accused him of betraying Peter Obi and working on behalf of Atiku Abubakar.
Backstory…
The disagreement between Obi and Datti-Ahmed became more public after Baba-Ahmed criticised Obi’s political decisions, particularly his departure from the Labour Party and subsequent movements between opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
In September 2026, he described Obi and other opposition figures as incapable of improving Nigeria, remarks that triggered backlash from the former governor’s supporters. He later claimed his comments had been taken out of context.
Additionally, he revealed why he parted ways with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Insisting that his decision was informed by Obi’s lack of a clear plan for Nigeria.
