Ahead of the February 6, 2027, senate election, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan began her re-election campaign on Sunday across Kogi Central. Candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party and her supporters joined the campaign events.
The campaign culminated with a meeting at the senator’s home in Obeiba, Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, following roadside gatherings in Okene and other districts.
This was revealed in a statement released in Abuja on Monday by her media assistant, Mike Idoko.
Party members, community leaders, political stakeholders, and supporters attended the campaign events. PDP candidates running for district seats in the National Assembly and Kogi State House of Assembly also took part.
Accompanied by her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and political allies, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to legislative advocacy, constituency development, and effective representation.
She stated that her relationship with Kogi Central constituents extends beyond election cycles, noting that their continued support inspires her public service.
The senator also pledged to expand efforts to attract infrastructure, commercial opportunities, and development initiatives to the district—specifically highlighting the ongoing developmental needs of the Ajaokuta area.
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that effective representation requires sustained constituent engagement, responsive governance, and targeted legislative action rather than simply occupying public office.
Backstory…
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s re-election campaign unfolds within a growing political contest for Kogi Central ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Having secured the seat in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the senator officially announced her second-term bid in April 2026 following consultations with party stakeholders across the district’s five local government areas. She later established a PDP campaign council in August to direct grassroots mobilization efforts.
Her re-election campaign faces a prominent challenge from former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, who has signalled his intention to run for the same senatorial seat on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform. The ongoing political rivalry between both figures has featured repeated public friction and legal disputes.
