PNYF Backs NSCDC CG Audi, Dismisses Calls for His Removal

The Patriotic Nigeria Youth Forum (PNYF) has passed a vote of confidence on the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, commending his leadership, institutional reforms and contributions to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

The forum also cautioned individuals and groups campaigning for Audi’s removal, urging them to recognise the importance of continuity, institutional stability and sustained reforms in the nation’s security architecture.

The National Coordinator of PNYF, Comrade Olamide Odumosu, disclosed this during the forum’s 2026 National Youth Day celebration, held under the theme, “Reimagining the Nigerian Youth: Leadership, Innovation and a Greater Nation.”

Odumosu said the forum had closely monitored the activities of the NSCDC under Audi’s leadership and observed remarkable improvements in the Corps’ operational capacity, professionalism, institutional development and contribution to national security.

According to him, Audi has repositioned the Corps into a more organised, professional and responsive security institution, strengthening its capacity to protect critical national assets, public infrastructure and other strategic facilities.

He noted that the NSCDC had witnessed significant transformation under the current leadership, adding that the Corps had continued to demonstrate greater operational effectiveness and commitment to its constitutional responsibilities.

“Before our eyes, the NSCDC under Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has undergone remarkable transformation. The Corps has moved beyond its previous limitations and is increasingly demonstrating the professionalism, discipline and operational capacity expected of a modern security institution.

“We have seen a leadership that understands institutional development, values professionalism and recognises the strategic importance of protecting Nigeria’s critical national assets. These achievements deserve recognition and encouragement,” Odumosu said.

The PNYF coordinator particularly commended Audi for strengthening the Corps’ role in safeguarding critical infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities, electricity installations, telecommunications infrastructure and other strategic national assets.

He described the Commandant-General as a focused, disciplined and reform-minded security administrator whose leadership has contributed to advancing the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen national security and protect essential infrastructure.

Odumosu further warned individuals, including Mr. Deji Adeyanju and others calling for the removal of the Commandant-General, against what he described as attempts to undermine an ongoing process of institutional development.

He urged those expressing reservations about Audi’s leadership to pursue their concerns through constructive engagement and verifiable evidence rather than campaigns capable of distracting the Corps from its statutory responsibilities.

The forum maintained that calls for the removal of a serving security chief should be guided by facts, measurable performance and the national interest, rather than personal disagreements or political considerations.

Odumosu said the forum believes that sustained leadership and institutional continuity are important to consolidating the gains recorded by the NSCDC, particularly in the protection of critical national infrastructure.

He also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the protection of critical national assets remains an important component of the administration’s commitment to national security, economic stability and development.

The forum urged Nigerians, especially young people, to support security institutions and acknowledge the contributions of officers working to protect lives, property and national infrastructure.

Meanwhile, speaking on the broader theme of the National Youth Day celebration, Odumosu called on the Federal Government and private sector to increase investment in youth development, describing young Nigerians as critical partners in building a prosperous and secure nation.

He identified unemployment, poverty, inadequate access to quality education, insecurity and limited economic opportunities as some of the major challenges confronting young people.

He urged the government to prioritise digital skills, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, vocational education, research and youth participation in governance.

Odumosu also challenged the private sector to expand opportunities for young Nigerians through employment, internships, mentorship programmes, innovation grants and enterprise development.

“Investing in young people is not charity; it is an investment in Nigeria’s economic growth, stability and prosperity,” he said.

He reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to promoting responsible citizenship, leadership development, patriotism, innovation and national unity.

The PNYF coordinator urged Nigerian youths to embrace peaceful participation in democracy, respect for the rule of law and commitment to national development, stressing that young people must take active responsibility for shaping the country’s future.
