BBNaija reality star Bella Okagbue has opened up about her split from former boyfriend, Sheggz, addressing the controversy that has followed their breakup.
Bella explained in a statement shared on social media that she initially chose not to speak about the relationship because she believed certain aspects of their private life should remain away from the public.
The reality star said she genuinely loved Sheggz and stood by their relationship because she believed in what they shared. According to her, she also gave him another opportunity because she believed people were capable of changing.
However, Bella noted that believing in someone’s ability to change did not mean she was obligated to wait endlessly for that change to happen.
“The person everyone experiences publicly isn’t always the person you experience privately,” she wrote.
She also addressed conversations surrounding marriage and the engagement ring Sheggz had previously mentioned buying for her.
“A ring doesn’t fix what made a relationship impossible,” Bella said.
Bella disputed some accounts of their relationship that have circulated online, stating that they did not correspond with what she personally experienced.
She revealed that there were aspects of the relationship she had intentionally kept private and would only discuss them when she felt comfortable doing so.
“A hundred promises. Not one fulfilled,” she wrote, explaining that she eventually stopped focusing on promises and began observing repeated behaviours.
Bella said she had invested love, loyalty and another opportunity into the relationship but eventually realised that trust, respect and peace could no longer coexist with her continued loyalty.
She maintained that she had no regrets about giving the relationship another chance, but said she had reached a point where she needed to prioritise herself and move forward.
“So today, I choose myself. I choose differently, regardless of what comes with it,” she wrote.

Bella Okagbue and Sheggz, who met during the 2022 BBNaija Level Up season, went on to become one of the most popular couples to emerge from the reality show. Their relationship continued outside the BBNaija house and attracted a large following over the years.
However, speculation about the state of their relationship intensified in 2026 after fans noticed changes in their social media activities. Sheggz later confirmed that their relationship had officially ended in January 2026, although the pair made attempts to reconcile afterwards.
