David Mark’s ADC Faction, Turaki PDP Hold Closed-Door Talks in Abuja

FThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Kabiru Turaki, and a group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by David Mark, are meeting in Abuja.

The meeting comes amid the leadership crises ongoing within the both opposition parties.

Among those in attendance are, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Sokoto South senator Aminu Tambuwal, former justice minister Abubakar Malami, former transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

While those who attended on Turaki’s side include; Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo; Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Niger state; Jerry Gana, former minister of information; and Adolphus Wabara, former senate president.

According to sources, the meeting is aimed at exploring possible collaboration between both the PDP and the ADC.

Recall that in recent times, the ADC has been involved in internal conflicts since an opposition coalition took over the party’s leadership in July 2025. Nafiu Bala, a former deputy national chairman, claims that Mark was unlawfully chosen as the national chairman.

Furthermore, the crisis worsened last week when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that it derecognised the Mark-led leadership.

Citing the March 12 judgement of the court of appeal, INEC stated that it would refrain from engaging with Mark’s leadership and Bala faction .

However, on Tuesday, the ADC State Chairmen Forum rejected the party’s factions led by David and Bala.

Recall that on Wednesday, the opposition leaders led a protest at INEC headquarters demanding justice .
