Air Peace suspends Warri-Lagos flight over bird strike incident

Air Peace has suspended a scheduled flight from Warri to Lagos after one of its aircraft suffered a bird strike while landing at Osubi Airport in Delta State.

The Air Peace airline disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, noting that the aircraft was immediately withdrawn from operation for safety checks following the incident.

According to the statement, engineers carried out initial inspections after the aircraft landed and discovered the need for additional examination of the landing gear.

“Preliminary inspections revealed the need for further checks on the landing gear, necessitating the grounding of the aircraft in accordance with established aviation safety procedures,” the airline stated.

Due to the development, Air Peace announced the cancellation of the aircraft’s scheduled return flight from Osubi to Lagos.

The airline added that measures had been put in place to reduce the inconvenience to affected passengers, including providing hotel accommodation in Osubi while awaiting the continuation of their journeys.

Air Peace apologised to passengers for the disruption and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.

The airline also reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety, stressing that all operational decisions are guided by strict compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

“At Air Peace, safety remains our foremost priority,” the statement read.

“While disruptions of this nature are regrettable, every operational decision is guided by our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.”

The airline further thanked passengers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation, assuring them that updates would be communicated as the situation develops.
