Alex Ekubo’s Family Drops Official Statement, Reveals Real Cause of Death

The family of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially released a formal statement confirming his passing following a battle with a terminal illness.

According to the statement released via Alex’s official Instagram account on Wednesdaty, the actor died at Evercare Hospital in Lagos due to Complications from advanced metastatic kidney carcinoma were identified as the cause of death.

The statement partly reads, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke.”

“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.”

The family futher described his final moments as a time marked by resilience and spirituality, saying he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing one day his testimony would reach the world.

The family has also asked the public to pray for them and said it will announce the funeral arrangements in due course.

“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss.

“Further details regarding funeral arrangements and other family matters will be communicated in due course. We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family throughout this period.”

Recall that the news of Ekubo’s passing yesterday May 12 sent social media into a frenzy.

Additionally, fellow colleagues have since reacted to the sad news, further verifying the incident. Other fans and well wishers across social media have seized the opportunity to share emotional tributes.

Meanwhile, rumours circulated in May 2025 that Alex Ekubo was suffering from serious health issues after he disappeared from social media for months.
