Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started delivering sensitive electoral materials to local government districts around Anambra State.
The exercise is being carried out under strict security, and it began on Thursday at the INEC headquarters in Awka.

The practice was overseen by Queen Agwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), and Abayomi Shogunle, the Commissioner of Police for Election Duty, who reiterated that officers are well equipped to secure both land and riverine communities during the polls.
According to, INEC there are 2,802,790 registered voters who will cast their ballots across 5,718 polling units in the state’s 21 local government areas.

The commission also revealed that due to a shortage of registered voters, polls will not take place in two polling places.

There are sixteen contenders in the race, including Jude Ezenwafor of the PDP, George Moghalu of the LP, Paul Chukwuma of the YPP, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, and Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the APGA.
