APC Fixes May 15 for Presidential Primary, Sets Forms at ₦100m

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed its presidential primary election for May 15 and 16, 2026, amid preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party outlined key activities in the schedule it released on its official X account and in a statement signed by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu.

Forms sales, candidate screening, appeals, and primary elections for all elected seats are all included.

The schedule states that the nomination and expression of interest forms will be sold from April 25 to May 2, with a deadline of May 4 for submissions.

It further states that applications will be screened from May 6 to May 8, results will be released on May 11, and appeals will take place from May 12 to May 13.

Additionally, the party scheduled House of Representatives, Senate, State Assembly, and governorship primaries for May 18, May 20, May 21, and May 23, respectively.

Forms Cost

The party set the entire cost of forms for presidential candidates at ₦100 million, which includes ₦70 million for nominations and ₦30 million for expressions of interest.

While fees for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly differ, candidates for governor must pay ₦50 million.

It also added that “Female aspirants, youth and physically challenged aspirants are to pay for the expression of interest and 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fees for each position.”

The party reaffirmed its commitment to conducting “credible and transparent primary elections” to strengthen internal democracy

As of the time of filing this report, no APC member had previously expressed interest in running for president.

Although Tinubu is yet to formally declare intention to run, some key party leaders and affiliations have, however, endorsed him for re-election.
