In a revised list released on Monday, the All Progressives Congress removed five names, including that of former Senator Ben Bruce, from its earlier list of senatorial aspirants disqualified from the Senate primary.

National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka signed the updated list shortly after the party released the initial version on Monday. However, the APC reduced the number of affected candidates from 47 to 44 without offering any explanation.

Morka said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases an updated list of Senatorial aspirants not cleared to participate in the Party’s Senate Primary Elections.

“The APC urges all stakeholders to uphold transparency, orderliness, and the integrity of the ongoing Primary Election process.”

Former Senator Ben Bruce, who represented Bayelsa East in the Senate, was among the most prominent names on the initial list released earlier that day.

However, the party neither explained why it removed his name from the updated list nor clarified his clearance status.

In addition to Ben Bruce, the APC also removed four other names from the list: Usman Ephraim Gar (Plateau Central), Gyang Yaya Zi San (Plateau North), Napoleon Binkap Bah (Plateau South), and Chimzobam Kingsley Nnalue (Anambra North).

Two additional names were later added: Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana (Nasarawa West), who was noted to have voluntarily withdrawn, and Ibrahim Bala (Nasarawa West), who was listed as not cleared.
