Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the administration led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the worst he has encountered in his nearly four decades of involvement in Nigerian politics.

Atiku made the statement on Tuesday in Abuja at the public presentation of The Loyalist, a book written by Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He also commended the ADC, describing the party as a viable platform capable of bringing together Nigerians with diverse political ideologies and viewpoints.
“We have a unique opportunity within the ADC as a political party. It is a convergence of various political leanings across the country, united in an effort to reunite Nigeria and renew our democratic journey,” he said.
Reflecting on the current government, Abubakar added, “If there is anything positive in our recent political development, it is this coming together to rescue the country from what I consider the worst administration I have witnessed in nearly four decades.
“Not even the military regimes before 1999 damaged our national life and consciousness in the way this administration has done.”
He noted that many in attendance were involved in the formation of the APC but had since become disillusioned with its performance in government.

“Many of us here were part of the formation of the APC; unfortunately, what we believed would rescue the country has not happened,” Abubakar said.
He urged Nigerians to once again take responsibility by building a credible political alternative.
“Just as we once took responsibility to come together and form a political alternative, we must again come together to ensure the emergence of a new political organization capable of salvaging this country for the benefit of its people.”
