ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has formally appointed actor-turned-politician and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, as his spokesperson.
This occurred weeks after the politician publicly denounced the party’s selection of its vice presidential nominee for the general election of 2027.
In a message released on his official X Twitter on Thursday, Okonkwo revealed the appointment and thanked Atiku for giving him the position.
He said, “I give God all the glory to be appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his Spokesperson. I thank HE AA for the immense confidence reposed in me”
According to the former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesperson, the appointment reflects Atiku Abubakar‘s inclusive leadership style, emphasizing that the former vice president prioritises dialogue, consensus-building, and effective communication over hostility toward colleagues with differing views.

Despite what he termed as restrictions imposed by the Electoral Act, 2026, he disclosed that conversations with Atiku and other ADC leaders addressed concerns about the political interests of the South-East.
