No fewer than four persons have been reportedly murdered following an attack on Damala village in Woko district of Borgu LGA, Niger state by suspected bandits.
The attack comes just seven days after gunmen attacked and killed at least 42 residents in several communities in Borgu and neighbouring Agwara LGAs.
According to sources, the most recent attack occurred on Friday at approximately 11 p.m., after the residents had gone to bed.

The Niger police command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged the incident and stated that around four people were murdered.
“On 10th Jan, 2026, within the early hours of the day, a report received indicated that suspected armed bandits attacked Damala Village, via Woko District Borgu LGA, rustled some cattle and about four persons lost their lives during the attack within the village,” Abiodun told newsmen.

According to the police spokesperson, some stores were set ablaze during the attack.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu gave the military, police, and Department of State Services (DSS) instructions on January 4 to locate and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on the Kasuwan Daji community in Niger state.

Additionally, Tinubu reassured locals that security forces had been instructed to step up operations in communities that are at risk, especially those near woodlands that are frequented by criminal organisations.
