The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) releases social media activist VeryDarkMan after 5 days in detention.
Following his alleged unlawful detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Martins Otse, A.K.A. VeryDarkMan, has been released from the EFCC‘s custody.
His release was announced on social media by the owner of Sahara Reporters and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, who took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to tweet about VeryDarkMan’s release.
The caption on his post reads, “Thanks to the unrelenting efforts of all, @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC. He is with his ebullient lawyer, @adeyanjudeji.”
NaijaEyes reports that VeryDarkMan (VDM) was arrested by the EFCC on Friday evening alongside his friend, C-Park.
The anti-financial crimes agency then released a statement regarding the arrest, basing it on a series of petitions against the activist, claiming that several invitations were communicated to him, but he failed to honor them.
However, several supporters and fans of VDM went on a peaceful protest on Monday to ask for the release of the social media activist who had done nothing but touch lives in a positive way.
A lot of the supporters were accusing GTBank of calling the EFCC on VeryDarkMan, but the bank released a CCTV video stating that the activist wasn’t arrested on their premises.
More updates will be provided.
