Tinubu launches Funtua Inland Dry Port to boost non-oil exports.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned the Funtua Inland Dry Port in Katsina State, marking its strategic importance in boosting Nigeria’s economy through non-oil exports and facilitating regional economic integration. The port, situated in Funtua, Katsina State, is the third completed among the six legacy Inland Dry Port projects across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. Speaking at the commissioning, President Tinubu’s representative emphasized the port’s potential to enhance international business for inland-based shippers, aligning with the government’s commitment to diversify the economy.
The port grants importers and exporters in inland cities and neighboring hinterland countries access to shipping and port services without physically visiting seaports. Additionally, the port offers convenience for cargo clearance and processing, contributing to the promotion of export business and employment opportunities. Various officials, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and the Governor of Katsina state, commended the completion of the project and highlighted its significance in promoting economic growth and trade in the region and the country.
