NNPC and NOS celebrate as they strike oil in OML13, targeting 40,000 barrels per day.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd), alongside Natural Oilfield Services Ltd (NOSL), a subsidiary of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd (SEEPCO), proudly announced the commencement of oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State.
According to Olufemi Soneye, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, the journey began on May 6, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels of oil per day, with plans to scale up to 40,000
“This historic milestone signifies the strong partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL, reflecting their commitment to advancing Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, a vital component of our nation’s economy,” Soneye emphasized.
He highlighted the achievement as a testament to the meticulous planning and execution by both teams, marking a new era of economic empowerment and development opportunities for host communities.
For Nigeria, the first oil from OML 13 is not just a symbolic milestone but a practical step towards increasing oil production capacity, essential for meeting domestic energy demands and fostering economic growth.
