In a show of force and solidarity for their demands to be met, the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), FCT Chapter, partially disrupted activities at the AEDC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
This disruption was said to be a solidarity show to the AEDC management over not meeting its promises to the workers under its employ.
A statement by the NUEE reads, “We have reached the end of our ultimatum to the AEDC management regarding our unsettled demands. Please ensure that all offices are locked down and secured until our demands are met.”
An unnamed source said the disruption has long been planned to get what is due to the workers, such as 15 months’ salaries and pensions and other important demands.
It was seen that these aggrieved workers blocked the entrance to the headquarters, but AEDC has given a statement that the issue has been resolved. However, the Chairman confirmed this quick resolution from AEDC and stated that the strike had been called off.
