The Senate has suspended Senator Abdul Ningi for three months following allegations regarding the passage of two versions of the 2024 budget.

The suspension occurred on Tuesday during a session in the Senate. The decision came after Jimoh Ibrahim, a member of the Appropriation Committee, proposed a motion for Ningi’s suspension for 12 months due to misinformation and breach of peace in the National Assembly and beyond.

Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, also suggested that a warning be issued to Senator Suleiman Kawu of Kano South for sharing inciting information on social media, and requested an apology from him. This motion was promptly seconded by Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central Senatorial District.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the motion on the Senate floor.
