Cyber Fraud Alert: Moniepoint MD Issues Urgent Warning
The Managing Director of Monipoint Microfinance Bank, one of Nigeria’s top Mirco finance banks, Mr Olofun Babatunde, has cautioned Nigerians against sharing their account numbers in public domain spaces, especially during festive periods, he said doing this will result to cyber fraud.
It is no longer news that most scammers use Monipoint, Opay, and other online fintech to perpetrate fraud because it is easy to open an account even without your BVN.
He also emphasized the importance of cyber security awareness, warning that such actions could lead to a criminal activities and imprisonment.
Cybersecurity Approach.
Babatunde disclosed that monipoint collaboration with organizations such as the Nigeria Financial Intelligent Unit and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to enhance fraud detection and implement sophisticated security controls.
“We’ve built up a transaction monitoring and money laundering team that has set rules internally,” he said.
