“FG’s Million-Dollar Oil Surveillance Contracts Spark Duplication Concerns”
The Federal Government of Nigeria is under scrutiny for allegedly awarding duplicated oil contracts worth millions of dollars. Two contracts were recently awarded: one to PE Energy Limited for an engineering audit of upstream measurement equipment and another to P-Lyne Energy Limited for pre-field development studies in oil tracking technology. However, it was revealed that a similar cargo tracking system contract had already been awarded to Antaser Nigeria Limited under the previous administration, which would have cost the government nothing. The Citizens Advocacy for Social & Economic Rights (CASER) criticized the duplication, calling it financially imprudent and potentially corrupt. Despite denials and justifications from the involved ministries and agencies, questions remain about the transparency and necessity of the new contracts.
